So it’s an after school special, back in the tricky days of 2011 and I am leaving school to go and hang out with Sarah. I quickly run to the shop across from where she is living, to try and find something edible for us to eat while we are hanging out together. Running from a very dodgy shop with some questionably out of date cheese and pasta, I charge over to Sarah’s house.
At this time, Sarah and I have been getting to know each other and hanging out, after having met through her husband Dan and church groups. She noticed that I had been struggling and asked me if I had ever considered modeling. I guess I had only just really began using fashion as an experiment of letting out my emotions and standing out and was very nervous to think someone could consider me a model. I had always seen models in magazines and thought of them as the untouchables.
After a relaxing time of sitting in crazy long grass and practicing the ‘model face’ in front of a mirror in her kitchen, I had done it. I had been in front of a camera and not felt nervous or worried about what was going on in my head. I had done modeling, thanks to a very beautiful soul, showing me compassion and courage but also a new form of freedom and peace.
The Value Collection is based around this very day, where I chose to do something completely out of my comfort zone, that I didn’t think I was worthy enough to do. It crossed my mind that if we can not only own an empowering value, but also live the words, then maybe more of us can find our obstacles & hills that-bit-easier to climb.
So if you're dope enough to rock one of these amazing tee’s, I want you to know that God loves you and that I think you are truly beautiful and deserve peace, freedom, compassion and the courage to get through every single day. Or even chose one for a friend and, like Sarah did for me, bless someone who is struggling, and wrap them up safely with the love and grace that helps us fight every single day.
