This is a bespoke custom service, to create you a one-of-a-kind personalised piece, using something you already own.

There is a limited number of painting slots per week so these may get sold out, in which case you’d need to come back the following Friday, when new slots get released.

Custom paintings take 1-2 weeks to be painted before we send them out to you.

UK shipping is flat rate £3.50 for Royal Mail Tracked 24, estimated to take 1-3 days.

Free UK shipping for orders over £100.

The painted items have been heat set, so the design is secure. Both painted and eco-printed designs from We Are Hairy People can be washed at 30° by turning the garment inside-out and using a gentle wash. Iron on reverse, do not tumble dry.

For custom painted upcycling, you need to send us your garment to be painted.

Garments sent in need to be washed and clean, for hygiene reasons within the art studio.

Smooth fabrics work best, such as T-shirts, sweaters, denim and dress fabric. Cord will work but the texture may have an affect on the painting.
No fleece, no wool, no leather. Feel free to message if you need help with this.

The delivery address will be sent to you in your order confirmation email.

Please note this is a custom painted item, so it cannot be returned nor exchanged, as it is made specifically for the person who bought it- except for the unlikely event of the item arriving with a fault.

We’ve not ruined any one’s clothes before. If there is a small mistake this can usually be rectified. There are no refunds if you’re unhappy with the artwork unless there is a fault on our behalf- please look through plenty of our previous work to make sure you like the wearehairypeople painting style, and that you trust us.

There are currently enough garments on earth to clothe 6 generations. We don’t really need to make anything new- so we want to help people find new solutions to this- saving clothes, resources and money, while making the coolest piece of wearable art you’ve ever seen.

Custom painted upcycles are only available in the UK, as you need to send us a garment to be upcycled with a painting. This of course makes the process quite long and pricey for those outside of the UK.

Our printed collection is available worldwide.

Our pet portrait T-shirts are currently UK only, due to shipping logistics, but this may change in the future.

Fabric paint is made by mixing acrylic with fabric medium.
Specific painting and setting techniques that have been developed and perfected over the last 12 years, is what makes hairy designs effective and long lasting.
